Netflix Binge: The Sinner @Netflix_CA #TheSinner #NoFilterFridays

My Rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5

Holy shit, this show was wild! I legit stayed up till 7am binge watching season 1, even though I had to work the next day. Good thing my shifts start at 5pm or I’d be screwed for sleep! Totally worth it though 🙂

What it’s about..

I actually had no idea it was based on a novel until now. But in the first season, Detective Ambrose (played by Bill Pullman) digs into the past of a woman named Cora, (played by Jessica Biel) to determine why she stabs a man to death during a beach outing with her husband and young child.

Cora suffers from PTSD and has trouble remembering parts of her past. Each episode connects the dots, making it an addictive show to watch.

Have you seen it or read the book? Let me know!

Netflix: Riverdale Season 3 hangover

**Spoiler Alert**

I went on a serious Riverdale binge the last 3 days. I had stopped at season 2 at the beginning of the year, and somehow got distracted until now. 😜

I don’t know about you, but this season has been a favourite of mine. Last season with the black hood was really good too, but to be honest, I knew who it was pretty early on.

I still have a hangover from episode 8: Outbreak with questions looming over my head:

1. Who is the Gargoyle King??

At first I thought it might be Warden Norton, and then I thought it was Hiram. But at the end of the episode, we see him sharing a drink with the Gargoyle King. If it’s not Hiram, then who is it?!! Tom Keller? The mysterious Edgar from the Farm?

2. Is Penny Peabody dead?

We see Gladys wiping her blade and bloody hands, but we don’t see Penny’s body, nor are we told for sure that she’s dead. We only have Gladys’ assurance that Penny won’t be coming back.

3. Where are FP & Jughead going to go?

When FP and Jughead return to Riverdale, they’re stopped at the town’s border by a bunch of armed guards and told they can’t enter.

Riverdale is in a state of quarantine (thanks to Hiram’s master plan), and no one can leave or enter.

So what does that mean for poor Juggie & FP? Will they bunk with Gladys & JB??

4. Reggie & Veronica: possible ship?

V and Reggie spent ALOT of time together this season, which begs the question of whether or not something will happen between the two.

I have to say, I developed an appreciation for Reggie his season. 🙂

5. What’s next for Ethel?

We all loved Barb in Stranger Things, and were sad to lose her. But Ethel..she isn’t one of my faves.

After being put through detox, and discovering the truth behind Gryphons & Gargoyles, Betty & Ethel successful escape the Sisters of Mercy.

Ethel received quite a bit of screen time this season, does this mean she’ll become part of the gang via Betty?

7. What will Archie do next?

With Archie on the run and a bounty on his head, Archie’s only endgame if he returns to Riverdale is to get rid of Hiram. The question is: what is his plan?

What did you think of Season 3?

Who’s your fave character?

Netflix & Chill: Dumplin #Netflix

My Rating: 8.5⭐’s/10

I’m usually the type that has no desire to read the book, if I watched the movie adaptation first. So it’s a first for me to still wanna read the book, after watching the movie

Dumplin has been on my TBR for a while, but this film just moved it to the top of my list!

Gush worthy parts..

This was such a heart felt story. There were so many times I almost cry!

-I loved the way Bo looked at Will. You could already tell from the beginning that he liked her. 💖

-I also really liked Millie! She was probably my fave character.

Rant worthy part..

I’m sure there are many of you who love Jennifer Anniston and totally watched it because she was cast in it. But I wasn’t feelin it with her. Reese Witherspoon would have been a much better choice in my opinion.

I’m sorry, but Anniston’s Southern accent was not good nor was it believable! I’m not saying she’s a bad actress..she just wasn’t suited for Rosie Dickinson.

Other than that, I loved the storyline and movie!

Have you seen the movie yet? Did you read the book?

Friday Netflix: The Haunting of Hill House #TheHauntingOfHillHouse @Netflix_CA @netflix

The book by Shirley Jackson has been on my TBR for ages, but I never got around to read it.

Normally I prefer to read the book before watching the film adaptation, but thanks to @sincerelyjessx I decided to finally dive in and start watching this first. (Thanks for your awesome post!)

It’s based on the same house, but storyline is totally different. So for those who have no intention to read the book, there’s no need. 😜

I’m only on the second episode, but it’s some freaky shit from the beginning!

If you liked the movie The Grudge you will definitely like Bent-Neck Lady!

Have you watched it yet? Or read the book? Thoughts??

Book vs Film: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.

**Major Spoiler Alert!!**

Don’t say that I didn’t warn you! If you haven’t read the book or watched the movie, stop right here and come back to chat with me when you’ve read the book AND watched the movie! 🤓

My rating for the movie: ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2 out of 5

My rating for the book: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My Thoughts…

My 12 yr old and I were really excited about this one!!She hasn’t read the book, so her opinion was completely unbiased along with my hubby’s.

I’m probably the most unpopular opinion, but overall, I loved the book way more than I did the movie. Sure, it was cute and Kitty was portrayed well and the cast was on point. But just like all books to film, they changed major parts of the book and left parts out.

The changes..

Peter & Lara Jean

For starters, they changed Peter’s car! That’s right! No black Audi & definitely no van. I really wish they had kept that part..but no biggie. Peter was just as cool with his Jeep Sahara.

The biggest parts they left out, re-wrote, whichever way you wanna put it, was the scene where Peter takes Lara Jean to the estate sale. In my opinion, that was the start of feelings becoming real and one of the moments we see the real Kavinsky. For me, it all started when he bought her the fresh donut. That was the moment I knew he cared about her and the same moment I grew a soft spot for him. 💕

They also missed the whole fruit cake cookie bit. I felt like that was another important part in the book where the movie failed to capture Peter’s feelings for Lara Jean. 🤷‍♀️

Lara Jean & Josh

I’m sorry, but in the movie, you miss the whole connection between Josh & Lara Jean. After all, Han spends countless pages describing Lara Jean’s feelings towards Josh and how the timing was always off.

She was still my fave, even in the film..But the whole Kitty reveal gets ruined pretty early on in the movie. In the book she was suspect, but it wasn’t as obvious as the film.

The ending..

They changed the end a tad, but nothing that wasn’t already written. They tied it in nicely for the next movie…if there will even be one.

I say this because whether or not there will be a follow-up, the ending for this was a satisfying one and didn’t leave you hanging.

What did you think?? Let’s chat! I’m dying to hear what others thought!!

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han @jennyhan @simonschuster @SimonSchusterCA

What It’s About..

What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them… all at once?

Sixteen-year-old Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control

My Thoughts..

They aren’t love letters that someone else wrote for me; I don’t have any of those. These are ones I’ve written. There’s one for every boy I’ve ever loved—five in all

OMG. Talk about book hangover! I actually stayed up till 6am just cause I wanted to see how everything ends!! Totally worth the lack of sleep.

I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised by this one! You know the saying “never judge a book by its cover”? Well..I totally overlooked this one when it first came out.  I thought the cover was a little too girly for my taste.  But thanks to the  Netflix trailer, I knew I would enjoy the book.

I’ve been on this chick lit binge and devoured every moment of it. There were parts that caught me by surprise, cause it was not the way I thought it would go.

The Characters..

-Outspoken & wise beyond her years.  She reminds me a little of myself: will stop at nothing to get what she wants (in a good way of course).

Kavinsky aka Peter K

-He may have been the popular, “Handsome Boy”, but he was so not what I was expecting.  I found myself rooting for him.

-Sure, he was the nice guy and literally the guy next door.  But for some reason he annoyed me.

Lara Jean

-I had a love/hate for her.  She was cute and quirky, but it bothered me how afraid she was to speak her mind.

-As despicable the as the villain is with every story.  I also happen to find myself loving the bitchiest characters.  Why? Because they are always, in my opinion, the ones who are well-written.

I definitely wanted to punch her!

Have you read it? Did you have a favourite character?? Who’s excited for the film?
