[#BookReview] China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan @doubledayca @kevinkwanbooks #ChinaRichGirlfriend #ChickLit

Genre: Chick Lit, Contemporary Romance

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

I finally got around to reading the second installment of the Crazy Rich Asians series!

The way Kevin Kwan writes about Asian food..omg..I was salivating! And the pain au chocolat..how fitting was it that when I took this pic, I was devouring a chocolate danish?! I literally wished I could have tried those delicious pastries Collette had snagged when they were in Paris.

I enjoyed the new scenery, drama and introduction to new characters.

I really hated Michael in this one though. He was such a dick with his new found success, it made me wanna punch him the face and shake the shit out of Astrid.

I found Kitty Pong and Collette the most entertaining!

If you enjoyed Crazy Rich Asians, you’ll enjoy this as well.

Have you read it? Who was your favourite character?

It’s the eve of Rachel Chu’s wedding, and she should be over the moon. She has a flawless Asscher-cut diamond, a wedding dress she loves, and a fiancé willing to thwart his meddling relatives and give up one of the biggest fortunes in Asia in order to marry her. Still, Rachel mourns the fact that her birthfather, a man she never knew, won’t be there to walk her down the aisle.

Then a chance accident reveals his identity. Suddenly, Rachel is drawn into a dizzying world of Shanghai splendor, a world where people attend church in a penthouse, where exotic cars race down the boulevard, and where people aren’t just crazy rich … they’re China rich.

A Series I Own But Haven’t Read Yet.. #bookwormproblems

I seriously have a book buying/ book hoarding problem! But which bookworm doesn’t right??

I’ve decided to challenge myself this year by actually reading some of those beautiful covers sitting on my overflowing bookshelf, starting with some of the book series I own but haven’t started yet.

I think I’ll start slow and choose one a month with the help of my book jar.

Have you read any of these? Do you have a fave from this pile?

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han @jennyhan @simonschuster @SimonSchusterCA

Genre: YA, Chick Lit

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What It’s About..

What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them… all at once?

Sixteen-year-old Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control

My Thoughts..

They aren’t love letters that someone else wrote for me; I don’t have any of those. These are ones I’ve written. There’s one for every boy I’ve ever loved—five in all

OMG. Talk about book hangover! I actually stayed up till 6am just cause I wanted to see how everything ends!! Totally worth the lack of sleep.

I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised by this one! You know the saying “never judge a book by its cover”? Well..I totally overlooked this one when it first came out.  I thought the cover was a little too girly for my taste.  But thanks to the  Netflix trailer, I knew I would enjoy the book.

I’ve been on this chick lit binge and devoured every moment of it. There were parts that caught me by surprise, cause it was not the way I thought it would go.

The Characters..

MY FAVES

Kitty

-Outspoken & wise beyond her years.  She reminds me a little of myself: will stop at nothing to get what she wants (in a good way of course).

Kavinsky aka Peter K

-He may have been the popular, “Handsome Boy”, but he was so not what I was expecting.  I found myself rooting for him.

ONES I DIDN’T CARE FOR

Josh

-Sure, he was the nice guy and literally the guy next door.  But for some reason he annoyed me.

Lara Jean

-I had a love/hate for her.  She was cute and quirky, but it bothered me how afraid she was to speak her mind.

THE BEOTCH

Genevieve

-As despicable the as the villain is with every story.  I also happen to find myself loving the bitchiest characters.  Why? Because they are always, in my opinion, the ones who are well-written.

I definitely wanted to punch her!

Have you read it? Did you have a favourite character?? Who’s excited for the film?
