The Chestnut Man by Soren Sveistrup @HarperCollinsCa

Genre: Mystery & Thriller

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Two dark brown chestnuts placed on top of each other, the top one small and the bottom one large. Two holes have been scratched into the smaller chestnut to make eyes. Match sticks have been poked into the larger one, representing arms and legs.

You know the Christmas song..by Nat King Cole?

🎶 Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.. 🎶

Okay, seriously..now that I’ve read this book, whenever I hear this song, I will have that image (of the chestnut man) in my head! And I will never look at chestnuts the same!!

Bring on the Scandinavian crime fiction, cause this was one hell of a fucking ride! It was gruesome and had my heart racing. The exact kind of crime thriller I’ve been searching for! For the first time, it actually kept me guessing, even when I thought I had an idea who the killer was.

I haven’t seen The Killing, but will definitely be watching it, having read this book.

This won’t be for everyone, but for me, it made my list of favourite reads.

Have you read it? Have you watched The Killing?

If you find one, he’s already found you.

A psychopath is terrorizing Copenhagen.

His calling card is a “chestnut man”—a handmade doll made of matchsticks and two chestnuts—which he leaves at each bloody crime scene.

Examining the dolls, forensics makes a shocking discovery—a fingerprint belonging to a young girl, a government minister’s daughter who had been kidnapped and murdered a year ago.

A tragic coincidence—or something more twisted?

To save innocent lives, a pair of detectives must put aside their differences to piece together the Chestnut Man’s gruesome clues.

Because it’s clear that the madman is on a mission that is far from over.

And no one is safe.
